Strong thunderstorm warning issued for parts of Ohio

audio iconEmergency Information
Ashland, KY
High pressure to the south keeps the heat and humidity going today, while allowing a subtle wave to traverse, with the chance for showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. A storm or two could be marginally severe, but heavy rainfall leading to localized flash flooding will likely be more of a concern. Strengthening high pressure will decrease the chance for showers and thunderstorms Monday and especially Tuesday. This allows the heat to build a bit and the humidity to continue. A cold front will approach by midweek. Showers and thunderstorms will return ahead of it, and then a refreshing change to cooler and much less humid weather is expected by Friday, and lasting into next weekend. Be sure to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning until the heat wave breaks. This is a special weather statement for the following county, Sciota, Ohio. Issued at 4.17 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northeastern Adams, Central Pike, Southeastern Highland and northwestern Ceyota counties through 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. At 4.17 p.m. Eastern Daylight time, a strong thunderstorm was located near Kincaid Springs, moving east at 30 miles per hour. Hazard, wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Source, radar indicated. Impact, gusty wind could knock down trillions and blow around unsecured objects. Locations intact that include Waverly, Piketon, Kincaid Springs, Lucasville, Radden, Sinking Spring, Weekfield, Potlar Grove, Elm Grove, Serpent Mound, Locus Grove, Ladd, Mount Joy, Bear Creek, Lake White, Smoky Corners, and Idaho. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building. To report hazardous weather conditions, go to our website at weather.g.O.V. Flash.
