Spa building smoke traced to faulty thermostat

As discussed during the dispatch call, fire crews responded to a reported structure fire at a spa building near Newport Drive in Bar Harbor, initially described as a fire in a girls’ locker room sauna. Multiple departments were called on a second alarm. On arrival, firefighters found smoke but determined there was no active fire and that the issue was likely an electrical problem with a thermostat, and the extra alarm was canceled.
