Inmate suffers possible strangulated hernia with severe symptoms

As discussed during the dispatch call, medical crews were dispatched to a correctional institution for a reported forty-two-year-old inmate with a possible strangulated hernia, experiencing vomiting, protrusion, discoloration, and severe pain for about two hours. Some responding EMS units were later canceled or turned back.

Hello . This is for 100 and fifty-one to Calhoun CI in reference to a forty-two year old inmate who has possible strangulated hernia.

He has had the hernia diagnosed since March and has been dealing with symptoms of vomiting, protrusion, discoloration, and extreme pain for 2 h .

A strangulated hernia is a life-threatening medical emergency that occurs when tissue (like intestine) pushes through a weakened abdominal wall and gets trapped. The surrounding muscle clamps down, cutting off the blood supply to the trapped tissue, which causes it to die.
