Severe storm brings gusty winds and hail to Nebraska area


Locations impacted include Hay Springs, intersection of Beaver Creek Road and White Clay Creek Road, intersection of Highway 87 and Craven Creek Road, intersection of Highway 87 and Larrabee Road, Mount Maria, and Mechkopf State Wildlife Management Area. This includes Highway 20 between mile markers 74 and 79. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This is a special weather statement. A strong thunderstorm will impact northeastern Boxbute and southern DOS counties through 445 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time. At 4.02 p.m. Mountain Daylight time, Goppa radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Boxbute County fairgrounds, or 16 miles northwest of alliance, moving northeast at 30 miles an hour. Expected hazards include wind gusts of 50 to 55 miles an hour and nickel-sized hail. This is a radar indicated threat. The following impacts are expected, gusty winds could knock down trillions and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
