National Weather Service radar in Raleigh offline for 3 days

R-R-88D DARRACRAX will be unavailable July 30th through August 1, 2025. Due to maintenance and calibration work beginning on July 30th of 2025, the cracks WSRAD8D operated by NOAA's National Weather Service in Raleigh, North Carolina, will be unavailable for approximately three days due to maintenance and calibration work modification note 245. Technicians will remove and replace the phased shifter and wave dyed pieces. They will be replaced with a new interface panel and wave guide sections. A system calibration will be performed following the hardware changeout. This work is expected to result in a 2-3-day outage of cracks WSR-88D Doppler radar. During the downtime, adjacent National Weather Service Doppler weather radars will be available, and they include Blacksburg, Virginia KFTX, Wakefield, Virginia KAKQ. Newport Moorhead City, North Carolina, KMHX. Wilmington, North Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina K, Greenville Spartanburg, South Carolina KGSP as well as the Federal Aviation Administration Terminal Doppler Weather Radar in Rally, North Carolina TRDU.
