Heat advisory in effect until 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time, or 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Thursday. Daily heat index values up to around 105 degrees. The areas affected include all of far southeast Illinois and southwest Indiana, mainly along and north of the Interstate 64 corridor. The hazardous conditions are expected until 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time, or 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Thursday. The following impacts are expected, hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and eat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and health administration recommend scheduling frequent rest breaks and shaded or air-condition environments.
