Suspicious person with knife reported at hardware store

Officers respond to a report of a suspicious man at a hardware store on Richmond Highway. Store staff report that he is known for stealing and is cutting security devices off power drills. He is described as a 40-year-old man wearing a gray jacket. Officers run his identification and are advised he has no active warrants. They are then told he may have a knife or box cutter and is leaving the store on foot toward a nearby retail area. Officers track him behind the store and along nearby streets. One officer makes contact with the man near Tower Drive, detains him, and other responding units are told to slow their approach as the situation is under control.
