Fire crews handle high carbon monoxide at business

Fire crews responded to a business where carbon monoxide levels were higher than normal. They checked nearby stores to make sure they were safe. Readings at those other locations were normal. Inside the main business, crews found low but elevated carbon monoxide and measured small amounts of flammable gas. They suspected a gas furnace and air handler as the source and shut the system down. They ventilated the building, and the carbon monoxide levels kept dropping. The business owner was given instructions to have a heating and cooling service inspect the equipment. Once the readings returned to normal and the area was safe, all units cleared the scene.
