Vehicle ownership checked after plate inquiry

Officers checked a vehicle at the Conneaut rest area on I-90 and entered its license plate number. A truck plate from Illinois was hard to read because it was covered in salt, and the number was confirmed over the radio. Dispatch called the listed owner using the name and phone number on file. The person confirmed the name was correct but said they did not own the vehicle and knew nothing about it, though records showed them as the last known owner. There was also a note that the main water supply to a building sprinkler system had been shut off and that a fire watch was required until the problem was fixed. Engine six was cleared from the scene, and arrangements were being made to advise where the vehicle would be towed.
