Traffic crash causes chest injury to older woman

In Escondido, a 66-year-old woman was involved in a traffic collision while she was stopped at a red light and began moving into the intersection. Another vehicle struck her car on the passenger side at a low speed, causing minor damage and airbag deployment on the passenger side and the steering wheel. She was wearing a seatbelt and did not lose consciousness. She was able to get out of the vehicle by herself. She reported chest pain from the seatbelt, with visible marks on her chest and neck, as well as some head, neck, and left hip pain, but no back pain and no obvious injury to the hip. Her vital signs were stable and her heart rate decreased during evaluation. She was placed lying flat with a collar on her neck and transported to Palomar Escondido Hospital.
