Motorcycle crash on mountain road causes multiple injuries Traffic 07/17/2025 09:03 AM (PDT) Newfound Gap Rd, United States We were traveling from Gatlinburg to Cherokee, at the top of the mountain there, right before Newfound Gap. We were coming up toward Newfound Gap, and there was five motorcycles coming down. It had just started to rain. The last motorcycle lost traction. It followed right into us, right in the front. Break. brother then again and it was a bad bad accident and in any case we were okay my wife and I we went to the hospital yesterday got all checked out just to burn on my arm from the from the from the hairbags in any case but the girl was hurt pretty bad she was conscious she was talking to the EMS but there's no cell phone service from Gavenberg to Cherokee I always carried my little J-2 FG-60 with me. And we reached out, I was looking for anything. And I have the crossbowry feeder programmed in. So I tried to reach you guys, and I got through. I got to tell you all, you guys saved the whole day, probably saved that girl's life. I'll break for a minute. You can ask any questions. Over. him in here. I don't have a phone that's working right now. So that was you on the radio that Tuesday afternoon. Over? That was me. K.K.A.L. You've a chairman's the name. Jeremy, thank you. I mean, thank you so much. Somebody would have had to drive back down into Gatlinburg to... start hooking up everything. Amazing. The crossbow repeater, Jeremy, you and the guys, without you, that girl might have passed. Over? Thank you for that too. Yeah, there was a couple of relay stations in there, too, because some of the transmissions were smart for me to copy here, but there was another guy in there that was relaying a lot, so that helped the whole lot, too. But yeah, I'm glad that... Glad they was able to get up there, you know, and take care of that, and she's surviving everything. That's what it's all about. The hand radio always comes through, you know. I've lived through hurricanes and stuff, of course. Cell phones, I know, are not always there for you when you need them, so that's another good. And I appreciate everything you did that day, and your patience with me there with the signal and all that. officers, there were the National Park Rangers. I think there was four or five of them all together. And they said, how did you get through when I told him? I showed him a little Yatu F-C-60, M-Radio. I said, well, you tell the guys that relayed and did the work with you that saved the day. Over? Roger that. Well, hopefully it will bring awareness to the, you know, too, ham radio for people in the area here. That's the, that's the good. saying for Ham Radio. You never know when it's needed. I know they used it a lot during Hurricane Helena up here. You know, ham radio comes through for a lot of those folks to this place. So it's a great thing, and I appreciate you to jump in there and taking control of that and getting help in there and hope they got there in time. I think I got there pretty quick. I was wondering if to open the woman wasn't laying there in pain or whatever, you know, so I was trying to get everybody on the phone as quick as I could. real good Jeremy it worked out just perfect and where it happened was right by a little pull-off so we were able to get everybody kind of rerouted through their bunch of folks stopped one lady who was a EMS worker probably a better name for that but she helped guys were directing traffic because it was still about maybe about 35
