they are not "retarded" or anything like that - they have poor social skills and have trouble communicating - it's a learning disability

Autistic isn’t a learning disability

My bad - you're right - here is what I found: Clinically, it is classified as a neurodevelopmental condition that primarily impacts social communication, behavioral patterns, and sensory processing. The commenter "Adam Underwood" in your screenshot is correct. While autism itself does not dictate a person's intelligence quotient (IQ) or academic learning capacity, it often changes how an individual interacts with their environment.

wait just a minute there - they are only violent if they are being mistreated - my son is autistic and he has only felt that way when he was picked on. Unfortunately kids can be very mean and bully them. I was also a Special Education teacher and I had autistic children in the classroom and it was the same thing - don't judge a book by its cover - if he was beating on his mother maybe she was beating on him at home. Most autistic children are very kind - getting bullied is what might make them violent

autistic children are violent and mean. they have to be managed, or the family will be torn apart. I was on a trip with one, the force with which he was hitting his mother wasn't cute.

I've seen that once or twice over the years too. it's a shocker, esp when that young!

By the time your autistic kid is classified as a “juvenile”, you should be aware of any potential behavioral issues and keep sharp objects out of reach.
