93-year-old woman trips, falls, and hits head
Heard on:
San Diego County CA ALS TRI (Hospital)
03:30
00:00
We got a CAD number of (number withheld) 38 .
00:04
That's 121738 .
00:06
We have a 93 year old female.
00:08
Chief complaint is going to be a fall, hematoma to her forehead.
00:13
I just want to run a past you real quick, make sure you are comfortable doing a BH,
00:17
FO or VHO for transport.
00:20
Your facility transport by BLS 213.
00:26
How do you copy?
00:28
Ability.
00:29
Our patient had a mechanical trip and fall.
00:32
She was getting out of her chair to get into a wheelchair, fell forward.
00:35
It was unwitnessed, however, they heard yelling immediately and came to her side where she was awake, alert, and acting normal appropriate for self.
00:45
She has about a two-inch hematoma to her right side of her forehead, no bleeding.
00:51
She's complaining of some minor pain to that area, otherwise no other.
00:55
Head, neck, or back pain.
00:56
We do have her in a precautionary C collar.
01:02
They're coming to your facility as a code head.
01:05
She is not on any centers.
01:06
The only concerning thing was her blood pressure of 204 over 85 , pulse of 70 , breathing 16 , full and effective.
01:17
She's an O times one, which is her normal baseline.
01:21
GCS of 14 , just a mild confusion due to dementia.
01:26
Otherwise, she's negative on a stroke scale.
01:29
And like I said, it's acting normal, appropriate.
01:31
Mechanical trip and fall.
01:32
Just want to make sure you guys were okay with BLS 213 to transport this BHO to your facility as a code head.
01:41
We are about 5 min ETA just down the street from you guys.
01:48
So Engine 103, I just want to clarify.
01:51
I understand she did hit her head, but she does not take blood thinners, correct?
01:58
That is affirmative.
01:59
No blood thinners.
02:00
Staff said no blood thinners.
02:01
We went through your.
02:03
She just has a hematoma, and the only concerning thing being that blood pressure.
02:09
So per protocol, I'll be going under greater 65 with significant head impact, getting a BHO for BLS transport to your facility, and also just making sure you guys are comfortable with that blood pressure with them transporting it.
02:24
She's asking her baseline, which was A and O times one, I believe you said, correct?
02:30
That's affirmative.
02:31
She's answering questions appropriately for self.
02:35
Staff says she's acting normal and appropriate for self at this time too.
02:38
And it was a mechanical trip and fall.
02:41
No loss of consciousness.
02:44
Engine 103, I would be more comfortable if we made this an ALS call.
02:48
It's possible she's single.
02:50
She's been out of the chair with her.
03:01
Sorry, just a 2nd .
03:02
We're trying to figure that.
03:03
We do have her loaded on the BLS unit right now.
03:06
We're going to see what unit.
03:09
Copy that. I'm going to go ahead and take this Vista call.
03:12
When you know, just pop back on with me.
03:14
I'll be ready to make the adjustment.
03:17
Copy, it's going to be RA 214.
03:19
All contact if it's going to be anything different.
03:23
Engine 103, I copy that.
03:24
RA 214 will be our transporting unit.
03:27
Thank you guys, we can clear at 1437.
