***Press Release***
On Monday, November 2, 2026 at approximately 2:24 pm Harrisburg Police Personnel located a fully involved structure fire at a residence on E. Big Four St. Officers requested assistance from the Harrisburg Fire Department before locating an injured juvenile and injured adult outside of the residence. Officers then learned of a second juvenile trapped inside of the home.
Harrisburg Fire Personnel arrived on scene shortly after and entered the residence locating an unresponsive juvenile inside of the home. That juvenile was brought out and CPR was initiated. All parties were transported to the Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment. ER staff was able to stabilize all patients before transferring one juvenile patient to an out of the area hospital for further treatment.
The Illinois State Fire Marshalls Office is currently on scene conducting an independent investigation.
We would like to thank the Harrisburg Fire Department, Carrier Mills Fire Department, Saline County Sheriff's Department, Abbott EMS, and the staff of the Harrisburg Medical Center ER for their participation in the resolution of this incident. We would also like to take a moment to extend our thoughts and prayers to the injured persons and their family as they navigate this difficult time.
