Have to buy a Gun for OUR OWN PROTECTION. Make Sure the Intruder STEPS INSIDE before SHOOTING, Otherwise YOU will be Charged with MURDER.

I believe they have to threaten your life or you have to feel like your life is in danger. I know a guy with dementia. He accidentally went into a neighbor's home. He meant no harm. It would be horrible if you took that life. I have no problem shooting someone, that is there to cause me bodily harm.

Not in Alabama

Right. You have to interview the intruder, and determine his motive before taking defensive action. And if he only wants your stuff, but not to harm you, you must let him take your stuff. Because, you know, your stuff isn’t worth a human life. That’s how I understand NY law. In a civilized state like Alabama, your home is your castle, and shooting an intruder is not murder, even absent a pre-shooting interview.
