Officers check abandoned SUV on highway bypass

Officers responded to reports of a burgundy sport utility vehicle stopped on a highway bypass near the Old Lumberton Road overpass and East Humberside Road. They drove through the area, including under a bridge, trying to locate the vehicle based on directions from a caller who was unsure of the correct exit numbers. Dispatchers ran a registration check and linked a plate to a Mitsubishi Endeavor. When officers eventually located the vehicle, it was on the bypass, unoccupied, with the rear window broken out. No driver or passengers were found at the scene.
