Basement structure fire at Springfield Crossing

Fire crews responded to a structure fire at a building on Metropolitan Center Drive in the Springfield Crossing area. Units reported fire activity affecting the basement and first floor. Crews opened walls and sections of the hardwood floor to check for hidden fire and extended damage up toward the second floor. Several engines, trucks, and a tower unit operated inside and around the basement exterior. All occupants were reported out of the building, with light smoke conditions that were not getting worse, and no further signs of active fire were detected on the first floor by the end of the radio traffic.
