Highway truck crash driver declines ambulance

A 46-year-old man driving a large crew cab truck on the highway hit a stationary vehicle in the middle of the road, with major damage to the front of his truck and airbag deployment. He was wearing a seat belt, was alert and answering questions, and had no visible injuries or pain in his head, neck, or back. He was unsure whether he briefly lost consciousness for one or two seconds. His vital signs were within acceptable limits, and he had no significant medical history besides taking alprazolam and no medication allergies. Paramedics strongly advised him to go to the hospital for evaluation, but he chose to refuse ambulance transport, understood the risks, and planned to stay at home with family and seek care or call 911 if needed.
