Male patient treated for rapid heart rate at rehab facility

A 55-year-old male patient at an alcohol rehabilitation facility experienced a rapid heart rate diagnosed as supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). He had a brief episode of mild shortness of breath that resolved before emergency medical services arrived. The patient was treated with adenosine by paramedics and his heart rhythm converted to a normal sinus tachycardia. He was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital for further care. The patient had no chest pain or other symptoms at the time of transport.
